Fringeheads 6 - 1 Grilled

Overcast weather free of rain made for a crowd turnout of 62406 at Sarcastic Fringehead Arena today. Antonio 'Raket' Scarselletti was the appointed referee with assistance provided by Tõnu Vähi and Tim Thore Kollkau. The following players took the field: Aik Shi - Wai Ho, Chan - Kabić, Stang, Baptista, Koppensteiner, Adam - Al-Qasem, Husu, Tzonkov.

The following players had been chosen: Dob - Webb, 中北 (Nakakita) - Künzler, Xin Seng, Mohammad Harun, Xin Lee, Romijn - Mudaliar, Ze Han, Parvathaneni.

2-5-3 was the choice of the day for both coaches. Grilled mostly ignored the flanks in favour of their ability to attack in the middle, taking advantage of their divine (+5) level with that tactic. Fringeheads's Iliya Tzonkov tried to break through in the middle repeatedly, but couldn't get past the visitors' defenders. Central attacks were the recipe of the day for Grilled, as they moved the ball from the wings to the middle with startling regularity. Grilled had several good opportunities to take the lead, especially 19 minutes in when Bilal Mohammad Harun came up alone against Tan Aik Shi who managed a block. Fringeheads's Iliya Tzonkov excelled in some fine tricks that completely confused Bilal Mohammad Harun - and the finish was no less spectacular - 1 - 0! 32 minutes into the match, the visitors' central line of defence had to look on as Vincent Chan broke through, making the score 2 - 0 for Fringeheads. 33 minutes into the match Grilled's Kalki Parvathaneni viciously shoved another player from behind while going for a loose ball and was sent off the pitch with a red card. Having taken a hard knock between his legs, Gilbert Webb limped off the pitch in a reduced state of dignity. He could not continue, with 34 minutes on the clock, could this prove costly for his team? Bhavya Panigrahi had already been warming up, and came on for Gilbert Webb. Fringeheads put themselves up 3 - 0 when David Koppensteiner broke through on the right, leaving the entire defence trailing in his wake. Salman Al-Qasem left the field with a smile on his face as he was substituted 39 minutes into the game, as his team was in the lead. Satrap Kabiri was the replacement. The Fringeheads players could smell victory in the air. Iliya Tzonkov wasn't in a hurry to leave the field as he was substituted for Ramji Vookanti after 39 minutes. Miljenko Kabić increased the lead for Fringeheads to 4 - 0, getting a head onto a hooked ball from the right. The ball looked to have taken a deflection on the way in, but he's claiming it! After 41 minutes, Roope Husu put Fringeheads ahead 5 - 0 when he rose to head in a cross from the right wing. 5 - 0 was the halftime score. Fringeheads claimed to have seen most of the ball, and the statistics agreed with them - possession being 52 percent.

Magnus Stang really should have scored when he was chosen by fate to confront a wide open goal following a great play by David Koppensteiner after a corner. Fringeheads's Radomír Adam set up a perfect opportunity for Magnus Stang, but the latter failed to score. A speedy charge from the left side of the field increased the lead of Fringeheads to 6 - 0 as Miljenko Kabić finished it off competently, firing in from an acute angle. Miljenko Kabić's curling free kick almost found the goal for Fringeheads, but the visitors' keeper somehow managed to get ahold of it. With 69 minutes showing on the scoreboard clock, Grilled showed some good skill and were able to reduce the score to 6 - 1 when Chan Ze Han got past the home side's central defenders right in front of the goal. As the 75 minute mark approached, the Fringeheads coach decided it was time for a substitution. Radomír Adam reluctantly made way for Mladen Milostić on the pitch. Satrap Kabiri was handed the Fringeheads captain's armband. The referee decided to let play continue for an additional 3 minutes beyond the regular 90 minutes. The match ends 6 - 1. Fringeheads had most of the ball, with 52 percent of possession.

The most dominating Fringeheads player was without a doubt Magnus Stang. On the other hand, Ramji Vookanti's play was disheartening. Grilled's best player was Chan Ze Han. However, Bhavya Panigrahi made a disastrous appearance.
