Grilled 7 - 3 Champions

Due to an all-day shower, 41680 paying spectators got to see a match on a pitch-turned-bog at The Cooking Pot. Ingo Witten was the appointed referee with assistance provided by Sebastiano Calidoni and Luís Sáez. For strong, physical players the heavy rain was easy to overcome, it was even an advantage given their style of play. Others, such as the quick or technical ones, made bleaker appearances. People from all over Jurong had joined up for the derby. Lineup: Dob - Trung Quá, Webb - Künzler, Davlatov, Mohammad Harun, Xin Seng, Romijn - Mudaliar, Ze Han, Parvathaneni.

Starters: Pinilla - Göransson - Jarpa, Aydınel, Leshchinskiy, Pang, Potapov - Hvid, Kombächer.

The teams had chosen different formations for the match. Home team Grilled Birds went for 2-5-3 while Be Champions FC has decided to play a 1-5-2 lineup. Falke Hvid of Champions was able to make an impressive rush past the sluggish Gilbert Webb, which resulted in a goal making the score 0 - 1. After a fatal mistake from the away team's right side defence 15 minutes into the match, an alert Vikram Mudaliar bagged the ball for Grilled, levelling the score to 1 - 1. 24 minutes into the match and the home team took a 2 - 1 lead after breaking through on the left. The scorer for Grilled was Chan Ze Han. Champions levelled the score after 24 minutes to make it 2 - 2, as Falke Hvid struck home after a fine midfield combination through the centre, which left him completely unmarked. Grilled took the lead 38 minutes in, as Kalki Parvathaneni broke through on the left and put the 3 - 2 shot just beyond the reach of the outstretched keeper. A speedy charge from the left side of the field increased the lead of Grilled to 4 - 2 as Bilal Mohammad Harun finished it off competently, firing in from an acute angle. Grilled increased the lead as Moey Xin Seng struck to make the score 5 - 2 after an attack from the left left him unmarked in front of the keeper. Halftime score was 5 - 2. Grilled had most of the ball, with 66 percent of possession.

With 50 minutes showing on the scoreboard clock, Champions showed some good skill and were able to reduce the score to 5 - 3 when Falke Hvid got past the home side's central defenders right in front of the goal. By then Falke Hvid had scored three goals - a hat trick! After 60 minutes, the away team failed to deal with a good exchange of passes on the right, and Kalki Parvathaneni gave the Grilled supporters even more to cheer about when he increased the lead to 6 - 3. Given a free kick in a difficult position after 66 minutes, Grilled tried a variation that they had practised in training. The kick was sent into the area just in front of the keeper. However, the defence were on their toes and allowed no space for a finish. After 73 minutes, there was a bit of a mixup on the field as Champions found themselves out of position and their organisation level dropped to inadequate. A magnificent combination in the middle resulted in Grilled's Islom Davlatov increasing the lead to 7 - 3. Grilled's Kalki Parvathaneni got himself booked for a foul. Chan Ze Han wanted to play on, but the Grilled coach had other ideas, and he was replaced 88 minutes into the game by 田 (Tian) 勇航 (Yonghang). The Grilled players could smell victory in the air. Vikram Mudaliar wasn't in a hurry to leave the field as he was substituted for Yee Jian Hui after 89 minutes. The coach of Grilled was happy with the game so far, but still wanted to change the line up. After 89 minutes, 雄輝 (Yuki) 入江 (Irie) came on for Gilbert Webb. It was announced by the referee that he estimated stoppage time to be around 3 minutes. This meant there could still be an extra attack or two left in the match! The match ends 7 - 3. Grilled claimed to have seen most of the ball, and the statistics agreed with them - possession being 69 percent.

Most important Grilled player was Kalki Parvathaneni. 田 (Tian) 勇航 (Yonghang) on the other hand, had a terrible day. Falke Hvid performed admirably for Champions. However, Sebastian Göransson made a disastrous appearance.
