Khatib Heads North
Busy Bees player Khatib bin Hj Asmin transferred to Polish outfit KS Deportivo Słopna on a free today, after the Division Seven club's French head coach Fares Sellami concluded his final assessments. Khatib thus offically became their fifth ever signing, in a recruitment drive dominated by recent youth graduates.
This was all that Khatib could have hoped for, two years since he had been rejected from Motörhead Brunei. Usually deployed as a tall body in midfield, or when more desperate in attack, Khatib hadn't exactly been rated by most scouts. However, as the old saying more or less went, you can't teach six feet five, which Dutch Division Six club Athletic Club de Kruisweg also evidently thought.
Mentor Daud bin Radiman advised Khatib to go for the less-established Słopna, advice that he ultimately took. "He badly needs more exposure." Daud explained. "And that's something I'm not sure he can get at Kruisweg in his current state."
