Ropelearner 5 - 3 Grilled

The 53883 fans in attendance at Impossibility Camp were roasting in the hot sun. Fabián Carozo was the appointed referee with assistance provided by Ramón Navarro and Alan De Larre. It was a sunny day and the technical players could roll the ball around with ease. Those that had to chase after the ball found the weather less appealing, it especially stymied the game of Powerful and Quick players. Fans of both teams had been eagerly awaiting this Jurong derby and were doing their best to outshout their opponents. The following players had been chosen: Huamancayo - Marburg, Widzyk, D'hoedt, Grgeč, Dioguardi - Gém, Bejczi, Eszik, 军正 (Junzheng) - Breuker.

They fielded: Dob - 中北 (Nakakita), Trung Quá - Künzler, Xin Lee, Ze Han, Parvathaneni, Romijn - Xin Seng, Mudaliar, Davlatov.

Ropelearner FC started the game in a 5-4-1 formation, whereas Grilled Birds lined up in a 2-5-3 formation. Ropelearner focused on getting players in position for long range shots, taking advantage of their divine (+5) level with that tactic. A well placed corner kick from Marijan Grgeč was followed by Dániel Bejczi's hard but accurate header. The well executed routine resulted in a goal for Ropelearner, the score now 1 - 0. Miklós Eszik fired a shot from distance after 9 minutes, but the long shot couldn't find the net for Ropelearner. Ropelearner had to manage with a reduced squad after 21 minutes, as Fabian Marburg got sent off for a needless foul away from the game's action. Florus Romijn was unable to continue, following a slight injury to his right knee after 21 minutes. José Luiz Velhotried to hide a smile as he entered the field. He had not expected to get a chance this day. With 27 minutes played, Moey Xin Seng came in from the right and could have evened the score, but the defenders successfully repelled the attack by Grilled. The opposing supporters gave the referee an earful when he only gave Islom Davlatov from Grilled a yellow card after a mistimed challenge from behind 34 minutes into the game. That was far too lenient! The crowd was silenced 35 minutes into the match as the visiting team's Chan Ze Han came in from the left, levelling the score to 1 - 1. Jean-Félix D'hoedt held up a Ropelearner attack after 42 minutes, waited until Gianluca Dioguardi was in shooting position, and then elegantly set him up. Gianluca Dioguardi didn't disappoint his team mates, and from a distance he curled the ball with precision to the right of the keeper making it 2 - 1. Halftime score was 2 - 1. Ropelearner enjoyed most of the ball, as they maintained 54 percent of possession.

With 60 minutes played, the Grilled coach decided a substitution may help turn the game around. 雄輝 (Yuki) 入江 (Irie) came on, Hoàng Trung Quá had to leave the fray. 61 minutes into the match Marijan Grgeč put Ropelearner ahead 3 - 1 with a truly marvelous free kick. The home crowd was silenced as Cyril Künzler took a successful penalty shot 76 minutes into the game, reducing the home lead to 3 - 2. After 77 minutes, a deliberate handball from Grilled's Islom Davlatov was judged to be his second bookable offence, and he was sent off. Chan Ze Han almost seemed to dance around Miklós Eszik, his movements were so smooth. Unfortunately for Grilled, his finish ended up on the wrong side of the post. Ropelearner succeeded with their tactics after 82 minutes faking a cross into the penalty area, but instead passing a short side pass back to Dániel Bejczi who met the ball directly with his outstretched foot. The hard long shot touched the keeper's finger tips, but it wasn't enough to stop it from going in. 4 - 2. Cyril Künzler's early cross saw the defenders caught out of position and the alert José Luiz Velho was able to pounce and roll the ball past the hapless goalkeeper to score for Grilled. 4 - 3. Instead of playing a 50/50 ball into the penalty area, Ropelearner's Dániel Bejczi skipped past the marking defender and passed the ball to Jean-Félix D'hoedt who finished it off from distance. The keeper could only stand and watch as the hard shot hit the underside of the cross bar, and in to make it 5 - 3 with 85 minutes played. It was announced by the referee that he estimated stoppage time to be around 2 minutes. This meant there could still be an extra attack or two left in the match! The match ends 5 - 3. Possession in the forty-five minutes was dominated by Ropelearner, with 56 percent of the ball.

The most dominating Ropelearner player was without a doubt Salomon Breuker. Baldomero Huamancayo turned in a dismal performance, however. Grilled's top performer was clearly Moey Xin Seng. On the other hand, José Luiz Velho's play was disheartening.
