Ropelearner 1 - 3 Grilled

Overcast weather free of rain made for a crowd turnout of 20409 at Olympic Lyons Park today. Joey Daly was the appointed referee with assistance provided by Görd Zuendel and Jonny Andreasson. The match took place on neutral ground. Starters: Jalal - Grgeč, Bejczi, Marburg, Eszik, 军正 (Junzheng) - Widzyk, D'hoedt, Güner, Dioguardi - Gém.

They fielded: Dob - Trung Quá, 中北 (Nakakita) - Xin Seng, Mudaliar, Ze Han, Parvathaneni, Davlatov - Muthyala, Egan, Romijn.

It was to be a contest between two different football philosophies, since the home team started the game with a 5-4-1 formation while the visitors instead opted for 2-5-3. Ropelearner was determined to use their divine (+6) long shot ability. Grilled seemed to prefer attacking in the middle, taking advantage of their magical level with that tactic. 30 minutes into the match, the speedy Kalki Parvathaneni easily outpaced Dániel Bejczi, chipped the keeper and made the score 0 - 1. Gianluca Dioguardi charged down the left and had a wonderful opportunity to score the equaliser for Ropelearner, but the shot went well wide of the goal. Grilled players heard their coach's words ringing in their ears and steered their wing attacks to the middle instead. Moey Xin Seng came close to extending the visitors' lead when he found himself completely unmarked in front of the goal after a pass through the middle. He tried to lift the ball over Waris Jalal but overcooked it and hit the bar instead. Ropelearner's slick passing moves completely confused the defence after 40 minutes, but thanks to Massoud Dob's miraculous save from Dániel Bejczi's long shot the score remained unchanged. After 41 minutes Ropelearner showed the crowd a glorious passing play which put Piotr Widzyk in a perfect shooting position. His low hard shot was just as glorious, placed just inside the keeper's right post making it 1 - 1. The teams went for the halftime break at 1 - 1. Grilled claimed to have seen most of the ball, and the statistics agreed with them - possession being 58 percent.

Moey Xin Seng would have preferred to play on, but his coach decided otherwise. Chu Xin Lee entered the game for Grilled as the match clock showed 46 minutes. This was a good period for the visitors, with several opportunities to take the lead, particularly when Bernie Egan slipped through the defence on the right to come up alone against Waris Jalal, but the home side's keeper showed his lightning reflexes. The visiting Neeraj Muthyala was booed thoroughly by the home crowd 78 minutes into the game, after he broke through the middle and scored, resulting in the visitors taking the lead. 1 - 2 was the score. After 79 minutes, an incisive pass through the middle gave Chan Ze Han a chance to increase the lead for Grilled, and he did not disappoint. The score was then 1 - 3. As the match nears its end, the referee has deemed it appropriate to add 2 minutes as stoppage time. The match ends 1 - 3. Possession in this half belonged to Grilled, who controlled the ball 56 percent of the time.

Piotr Widzyk performed admirably for Ropelearner. On the other hand, Dániel Bejczi's play was disheartening. Grilled's best player was Bernie Egan. Hoàng Trung Quá turned in a dismal performance, however.
