Chawla At Strakintpak
Late developer Vikas Chawla got his break today, as he was accepted by Antwerp sixth division club Strakintpak on a free, as part of Fabrice Deruytter's initial recruitment drive. The winger had been training with his Grilled International seniors for the past fortnight, all the while fretting whether his pro career would be over before it had begun.
The nearly-nineteen year-old was no stranger to rejection, having been turned down by two local youth sides, before Busy Bees scout Zulfadly bin Hj Ratano took a punt on him. "He was about a year behind the mean, but so eager to improve." Zulfadly recalled. "I had to really press his case, and the team has been the stronger for it."
Despite there being next to no complaints about his determination and skill in just about all facets of the outfield game, Vikas recognized that his relatively-advanced age would continue to work against him. "Nothing I can do about that. All I can do is to continue to get better."
