Wong In For Yew
Farmer Bunnies' buying spree went on with nary a hiccup, as they filled the outgoing Lew Jia Chuan's Number Four jersey barely three days after he left. Its new owner will be -Blitz- 17 year-old
Wong Ting Yew, a very exciting wide man equipped with a rare collection of tools.
So good that his former club delayed their planned winding down of their youth side until he had graduated, Wong has been regarded as a natural romping up and down the right wing. What has made finding his best position tricky is his undoubted ability in the air too, which has encouraged his coaches to stick him in the middle all too often.
Bunnies head coach
Elias van Dal regards this as a happy dilemma. "You can't really complain when a player is great at multiple things that don't usually come together. We see Wong as a wingback primarily, but he will find plenty of opportunity to make his height very useful."
Save for an initial offer from Italian Division Eight side Atletico Pompeo, the Bunnies's main competition for Wong came from Romanian Division Five side Apocaliptic, who drove the final transfer fee up to S$1.99 million.
"It may be a bit on the high side, but in a few years, it might be considered a huge bargain." the optimistic van Dal continued. "He's been everything we were promised in his first training session, and we'll see how he fairs in the upcoming friendly against Dynamo Korlschocht FC."
