Pek's French Date
Farmer Bunnies central defender
Pek Rong Yau concluded his career with the club after 34 official appearances, signing a deal worth S$1.84 million that will see him go to French sixth division side f.c val de cèze. Pek will provide competition for German regular Siegfried Borke, who has come under criticism after a string of less-than-optimal displays at the back.
The 21 year-old Pek had also received a firm offer from Hungarian fifth division club Le Cuppant Hacc, who generally play five at the back, but ultimately went with f.c val de cèze after considering all factors.
"They seem to have a sensible system going, and I am interested in learning how to operate within a 3-5-2." the heavily-built Pek explained. "Bunnies have trained me well on how to work in a massed defence, and it would be good to pick up some versatility while I'm still starting out."
Pek's departure further opens the way for the next generation of Bunnies defenders to take a step up, with
Tham Leng Teck in particular staking his claim to being recognized as the leader of the bunch, with his continued steadfastedness at rightback.
