Kolitovia Take Lew
20 year-old Farmer Bunnies central defender
Lew Jia Chuan embarked on the next stage of his footballing career, as he transferred to Polish Division Six club FC Kolitovia for S$1.8 million today. A leg injury to Venezuelan regular Martín Reinfeld has opened up a space in their back three, and Lew is only too eager to contest the spot.
The former Enoshima High FC trainee, who has made 28 competitive appearances in the Grilled Number Four shirt up till now, was one of the few who made it despite not being in an organized youth team. Head coach
Elias van Dal bemoaned what could have been.
"Had he spent a few extra years getting schooled in the basics, he could have gotten into the next tier. As it is, he can still have a very productive career, but he'll find it hard to catch up to the very best."
This is still more than Abdul Rashid Harun and Luqman Abdul Wahab Rida can hope for, though, as the 18 year-old Rancher Rabbits graduates threw in the towel. "The pros are just too good." Luqman, who fared poorly in his training matches with the Bunnies reserves, stated. "It's time to join my uncle's electrician business."
