Grilled 6 - 1 EGIS

Fairly good weather for football had drawn a crowd of 7549 to The Cooking Pot. Roberto Sole was the appointed referee with assistance provided by Eero Kuoppala and Tim Estrabaut. The following players had been chosen: Rykowski - Trung Quá, Tarin - Velho, Tran, Mohammad Harun, Webb, Mottl - Egan, Jian Hui, Xin Seng.

They fielded: Deiac - Bové, Leftly, Bergs, Sărman - Patentaşu, Saidi, Zamri, Torró, Ueberau - Martarello.

The teams had chosen different formations for the match. Home team Grilled Birds went for 2-5-3 while ERYTHRURA GOULDIAE has decided to play a 4-5-1 lineup. Grilled clearly preferred using their world class ability to attack in the middle. Some great play up the middle by Grilled led to a chance for Gilbert Webb to score after 25 minutes, but the shot hit the crossbar. EGIS played a good counterattacking move down the left 26 minutes into the match, with Arnau Torró finishing well for 0 - 1. Always a threat, Cristian Patentaşu tore past his marker and placed the ball right at the feet of the waiting Arno Ueberau who should have easily scored for EGIS, but the ball went wide. Cătălin-Andrei Sărman of EGIS was booked for kicking the ball away after the whistle. Unsportsmanlike behaviour by Cătălin-Andrei Sărman rendered him his second booking of the match, and EGIS had to finish the game with a reduced squad. A foul 39 minutes into the game resulted in a free kick for Grilled. Jérémy Tarin took advantage as he curled the equalising goal into the top corner, just out of the reach of the keeper. 1 - 1. They were singing the praises of Moey Xin Seng 40 minutes into the match after his speculative chip from the middle of the penalty box found its way over the visitors' keeper to make the score 2 - 1 to Grilled. Grilled's Dante Tran was shown a yellow card for standing over the ball and blocking an opponent's quick free kick after 42 minutes. With 43 minutes played, Yee Jian Hui of Grilled fell dramatically just outside the penalty area. However, the referee was unimpressed, and booked him for diving. After several obvious shirt pulling incidents, Prokop Mottl got himself booked. The manager of Grilled was not happy. The teams went for the halftime break at 2 - 1. Possession in the forty-five minutes was dominated by Grilled, with 54 percent of the ball.

After 68 minutes, Dante Tran put Grilled ahead 3 - 1 when he rose to head in a cross from the right wing. Grilled's Yee Jian Hui excelled in some fine tricks that completely confused David Bové - and the finish was no less spectacular - 4 - 1! Grilled solidified their lead at the 76 minute mark, as Bernie Egan dribbled the ball through the opposing central defence and scored to make it 5 - 1. Bernie Egan could have put Grilled up one more, but he fired into the side netting after breaking free on the left after 77 minutes. Cheers filled the stadium as Bilal Mohammad Harun broke through the visitors' central defence to put away the ball to increase the lead to 6 - 1 to Grilled. Content with how the game was proceeding, the Grilled coach let 雄輝 (Yuki) 入江 (Irie) replace Jérémy Tarin after 80 minutes. As Jérémy Tarin exited the field, 雄輝 (Yuki) 入江 (Irie) volunteered to be the new set pieces taker. The Grilled players could smell victory in the air. Hoàng Trung Quá wasn't in a hurry to leave the field as he was substituted for Remco van der Ban after 80 minutes. The bench was restless, and with 85 minutes passed EGIS's coach gave Calvin de Wilde the opportunity the player had been hoping for. Geoffrey Saidi reluctantly left the field. Calvin de Wilde became the new EGIS captain. EGIS needed a fresh pair of legs on the field, and after 85 minutes Juris Bergs made way for Maarten Achterberg. The referee decided to let play continue for an additional 4 minutes beyond the regular 90 minutes. The match ends 6 - 1. Possession in this half belonged to Grilled, who controlled the ball 52 percent of the time.

Most important Grilled player was Bernie Egan. Remco van der Ban on the other hand, had a terrible day. Maarten Achterberg performed admirably for EGIS. On the other hand, Cosmin Deiac's play was disheartening.
