Liang Dismissed
Tele Fone FC notched a 3-0 win against Grilled in their latest exhibition match, with Iskandar Zulkernain bin Ahmad, who had represented Singapore at both senior and youth level, shining in the lopsided victory against an experimental Birds XI loaded in defence. The back four did well given how the cards were stacked against them, especially after newcomer
Liang Liyong was red carded for losing his temper.
Other than Iskandar, TFFC had Aizat Amrin Mohd Hilman as his second in a strike trio, while 37 year-old Kamarulzaman bin Naib led ably from the middle. Grilled gave by now little-used veterans
Yvan Lefébure,
Rosendo Chinchay and
Edvaldo Mourão a day out in the middle, but the biggest draw was again
Tim Hobson, appearing for the second time in as many weeks after a lengthy hiatus.
Neither side made much of a splash in the first half, with the only event of note being an excellent feint and cut inside by Iskandar, who then loosed a powerful shot that seemed headed for the top corner. Apprentice goalkeeper
Dan Seng however used all his agility to great effect and swiped it off target, earning himself pats on the head from his defenders.
The second half was a whole different ballgame altogether, as TFFC stepped through the gears almost from the start. German right winger Johannes Allwang took Liyong on for pace as forward Tong Shun Lai held the ball up, and surged convincingly ahead of the Grilled defender towards the release. Seng came out hesitatingly, and couldn't cover well enough to prevent a goal.
Grilled were getting ripped apart out wide now, and Lin Minyao provided Iskandar with an easy conversion for the second after speeding past
Ling Fuquan on the other side.
Qassem Madaini recognized the danger that the striker posed, but was unable to get on the correct side due to Iskandar's intelligent movement.
This was getting too much for Liang, who was on the losing end just yesterday, and he completely lost it after Tong seemingly kicked the ball at him in the 68th minute. He looked like he was about to come out swinging at Tong, who backed away just in time, and although
Lin Jungui restrained Liang swiftly, referee Karm Nita would have none of it and ordered an early shower.
TFFC were on easy street now, and Huang Junying hit the post before Hilman made it three, sidestepping Seng skilfully before dinking it in. Ling came closest to getting a consolation for the Birds after a poor free-kick was countered, but his uninspired grounder posed no challenge to Li Wan Shun.
