Liang Leaves
Following lu Zunwen in the season break exodus was defender
Liang Liyong, who was the target of approaches from former II.2 rivals BDSM FC, as well as newly-promoted Division Three side Tele Fone FC. Both offers in the region of S$4.6 million were accepted by the club, and Liang agreed to depart for Tele Fone FC, effective immediately.
Figuring high in the cultured centreback's decision was the desire for first-team action, after a mere six starts this campaign, two of them in the Cup. It was plainly unsatisfactory for a former U-20 representative harbouring designs on the senior national side, and Liang hopes that the move will kickstart his career again.
"There have been good times at Grilled, but not nearly enough of those." Liang, who hid his dissatisfaction at his lack of playing time well, noted. "I simply could not wait any longer for a regular starting spot."
This is something he has been assured of at Tele Fone FC, with only Ling Shaobo a serious contender for first name in the backline. Other than that, the likes of 38 year-old Wu Daojie and 19 year-old Ravi Dharmapuri are clearly not up to Liang's standards.
