JUtd 7 - 1 Grilled Birds

Kings Of Jurong
Senesi Too Strong
For all of Grilled's bluster, JUtd proved that their glittering achievements were far from a fluke, as they definitively put the Birds to the sword at New Bukit Batok to finish up with an incredible goal difference of plus-50. Grilled could perhaps point to the loss of
Zhu Changchun as derailing their gameplan, but the ease with which JUtd got through, without ever gaining a majority of the possession, should be discomforting to Birds supporters.
Having being billed as a grudge match by no less than Mohd Safri, Grilled entered the match confidently enough, and not even Lin Kian Jing's sharp headed goal in the 14th minute got them down. They were still pinging it about with authority - until
Zhu Changchun pulled up all of a sudden in the 25th.
Niculae Stanca looked worried as he debated internally whether to send
Djan Bacelar on, and his worst fears were realised as the canny JUtd realised that they were now effectively three against two-and-a-half in midfield, with the Brazillian not quite in the same class. Longtime tormentor Gerardo Senesi indeed came through in the 37th minute, exploiting the space left behind by
Shiya Shaahee to double JUtd's lead.
There would be two more for the hosts before half-time, as the pacy Rasmus Grønkjær left
Woon Shun An in the dust in a straight footrace, after which Lin got his second as Grilled's defence went missing. They did lose Rosemiro Barcellos in the process to a knock to the shin, but Woon missed Grilled's best hope at a response with a feeble volley wide when he had a wide open goal begging him to put it in.
It was clearly not going to be Grilled's day, looking at the expressions of the players as they trudged off, a sentiment that was stressed when
Qassem Madaini went up bravely to get in the way of Tayfun Sarayköy's bullet header from a Grønkjær cross, only for the ball to catch him on the shoulder and loop past a wrongfooted
Edmund Kryus.
Woon Shun An did spare Grilled a whitewash, as he put in the work to catch a through ball from
Chow Ying Lee, and put only a sixth goal of the season past Lukas Gröne. Senesi soon took care of that threat, though, as he laid Chow low with an uncompromising tackle that had the Birds' bench up on their feet.
Referee Joshua Atkinson decided that a yellow was enough, and to add insult to injury, Senesi went on to complete his hat-trick, in the process becoming one of only five players to record a total of nine or more goals against the Birds; he will probably not be threatening the thirteen of Herron's Shu Chit-Fu anytime soon, though, as JUtd ascend to the S-League.
