Basterd 0 - 7 Grilled

Weather conditions were fairly good for football, and Geylang Coop saw a crowd turnout of 24017. Cătălin Stoica was the appointed referee with assistance provided by Leroy Visch and Harry Malde. The following players had been chosen by Basterd: Batzarov - Bauer, Shah, Maotoanong - Rašić, Umar Kamil, Pham, Etchande, Elmose - Blank, Wahab Awal.

The following players took the field for Grilled: Law - Hutter, 其材 (Qicai) - Reddy, Chitre, Keng Chuan, An Keng, Thach - Kwang Tse, Khairul, Teck Fu.

It was to be a contest between two different football philosophies, since the home team started the game with a 3-5-2 formation while the visitors instead opted for 2-5-3. The terraces were silenced after 5 minutes when Grilled's Damian Hutter put the guests ahead 0 - 1, following an attack on the right. Some fine movement on the left led to a Grilled goal after 15 minutes, making it 0 - 2. Chad Thach was noted down as the scorer. The visitors' Mohd Marzuki Khairul took advantage of a misunderstanding between the home side's goalie and centre backs 18 minutes into the match. 0 - 3 for Grilled. With 19 minutes played, Grilled put themselves up 0 - 4 after an attack from the right, caused by a defensive blunder. The scorer was Aw Keng Chuan. The teams went for the halftime break at 0 - 4. Possession in this half belonged to Grilled, who controlled the ball 72 percent of the time.

After 65 minutes, Grilled's Damian Hutter burst through the central defence and let loose a cannonball of a shot, scoring for 0 - 5. The opposing supporters gave the referee an earful when he only gave Aw Keng Chuan from Grilled a yellow card after a mistimed challenge from behind 74 minutes into the game. That was far too lenient! After 75 minutes, an incisive pass through the middle gave Hwang Teck Fu a chance to increase the lead for Grilled, and he did not disappoint. The score was then 0 - 6. After the ball was lifted in from the left, Mohd Marzuki Khairul was on his own in the home side's penalty area and should have scored after 77 minutes, but missed, probably due to lack of concentration. Basterd's Matija Rašić set up a perfect opportunity for Birger Elmose, but the latter failed to score. As the 80 minute mark approached, the Grilled coach decided it was time for a substitution. Aw Keng Chuan reluctantly made way for Chan Ze Han on the pitch. With Aw Keng Chuan no longer on the pitch, Chan Ze Han became the new set pieces taker. 80 minutes into the match, the referee signalled for a Grilled substitution. Radovan Jaška came on for Damian Hutter. After 81 minutes a combination in the middle resulted in a through ball for Mohd Marzuki Khairul who increased Grilled's lead to 0 - 7. It was announced by the referee that he estimated stoppage time to be around 2 minutes. This meant there could still be an extra attack or two left in the match! The match ends 0 - 7. Grilled claimed to have seen most of the ball, and the statistics agreed with them - possession being 72 percent.

Amirul Wahab Awal performed admirably for Basterd. Steven Pham on the other hand, had a terrible day. Grilled's best player was Chia Kwang Tse. On the other hand, Radovan Jaška's play was disheartening.
