17 year-old Bunnies winger Li Leong Pin got his break with Canvetto Merlions, who are gunning to win V.58 for the coming season, after a second-place finish. Merlions are the fourth spin-offs of Swiss club Real Canvetto, after Nigeria's Canvetto Eagles and Lagos Globetrotters, and the Nepalese Canvetto Leopards.
Li had distinguished himself with a hat-trick in a 4-0 youth league victory over Slovakia's FC Gorgoth Juniors, in which he notably did not even use his considerable heading prowess. "It's rare to see somebody so lanky being so quick on the turn as well." Rabbits scout Yip De Da mused. "It really makes him stand out, and Canvetto have a bargain on their hands here."
