Byron Down
A 40 year-old
Chan Ze Han was just delighted to be allowed some minutes in his 418th appearance for Grilled Birds over a quarter-century at the club. "There surely won't be many more of these, so I'm just taking each day as it comes!"
Chan would acknowledge
Damian Hutter's brace too. "It's been hard on him these couple of seasons, he's been getting a lot fewer starts than he deserves. But he has consistently stated his intent to stay and fight for his place, so I'm happy that he's gotten some reward for it today."
The Buns came good against Geylang opponents too, as they defeated III.4 club Byron by four goals to one. Getting goals was always going to be challenging without a recognized striker, but they fortunately had
Gabriel Priebe on hand. A sweet 38th minute free-kick and then a steady penalty take two minutes in the second half set Farmer Bunnies on their way, leaving Kenneth Madsen to save some face after good headers from
Guan Ming Kum and
Toh Eng Guang.
Grilled International had seen Polish H.I. IV.59 leaders Cieciora on Tour 2 off in their own main cup before that, as they came from behind after Władysław Romanowski had beaten
Arcadi Sansalvador for pace, to feed Dalisław Rozmysłowicz in the 18th minute.
Snæbjörn Sigfússon would level before the break, with
Mohsen Zeynali then putting International in front from a tight angle, 64 minutes in.
A couple of timely subs would then revitalize Cieciora, and the Poles had it at 2-2 with nine minutes remaining, with Antonio Griffa climbing over
Darshana De Abrew to equalize. Sigfússon wasn't done, however, and one more penalty-and-free-kick combo would make it a hat-trick for the Icelanding specialist.
