Reece Leaves
After an extended tenure on the transfer list, former Birds darling
Joe Reece would finally find a taker - Turkish Division Four hopefuls köstüspor. The Ankara club bid a cut-price S$3.5 million for the 24 year-old Welsh forward after selling Pacífico Escudero, and had their offer instantly accepted by Grilled Birds.
This would mark an inglorious end to Reece's time at the Birds after five seasons, during which he had captured both the club's Young Player and Player of the Season awards, as well as the Golden Boot for Division Three. It had been all downhill for him since that breakthrough third year, sadly, as first the arrival of bigger names such as Gústav Thoroddsen and Evandro La Face - and then a massive personal slump - derailed his career.
The Number Thirteen is ready to put it all behind him, though, and is confident that a change in scenery will do the trick. "I will miss the guys here, but it's clearly the moment for me to take my leave." he said in a final comment to the fans. "I'm just sad that it could not have been in happier circumstances."
