It was to be a contest between two different football philosophies, since the home team started the game with a 2-5-3 formation while the visitors instead opted for 5-2-3. Using their counter-attacking abilities was the strategy of choice for Paradiso on this day, taking advantage of their magnificent (12) level with that tactic. Grilled fans held their breath as
Chia Kwang Tse scampered down the left side. He successfully avoided all challenges and cracked home the shot for 1 - 0! After 29 minutes, Grilled were awarded a free kick. Rather than shooting straight at goal, the taker went for an indirect variant which seemed to take his team mates a bit by surprise.
Lim An Keng did attempt a finish, but from an awkward position, sending the ball into the away fans. Paradiso's
Yang Fu Kuan got himself booked for a foul. Grilled increased the lead as
Aw Keng Chuan struck to make the score 2 - 0 after an attack from the left left him unmarked in front of the keeper.
Brian 'Was Born' Reddy could have increased the lead after 36 minutes, but his shot hit the post after a nice combination in the middle of the park. Paradiso's counterattack was impressive and was only stopped by a shocking foul. Somehow, the referee's cards remained in his pocket - a terrible decision!
Ang Fu's resulting free kick was easily saved by the keeper. Grilled's
Chad Thach increased the lead to 3 - 0, after he saw his shot go between the legs of the advancing goalkeeper following some good play down the right wing after 38 minutes. The teams went for the halftime break at 3 - 0. Possession in this half belonged to Grilled, who controlled the ball 84 percent of the time.
Grilled managed to extend their lead to 4 - 0 when
Paulino Trindade cut in neatly from the left side and struck a fine shot past the away team's goalkeeper. Grilled's
Paulino Trindade had an excellent opportunity after 66 minutes, shooting after receiving a pass from the right hand side, but he missed the goal by miles!
Paulino Trindade managed to make an excellent pass from the wing, but
Hwang Teck Fu was not as skillful and couldn't finish it off.
Aw Keng Chuan increased Grilled's lead to 5 - 0 with a penalty spot cannonball.
Chad Thach could have put Grilled up one more, but he fired into the side netting after breaking free on the left after 82 minutes.
Jacob Yamada knocked one home from a counterattack down the right wing, making the score 5 - 1 after 83 minutes.
Lim An Keng of Grilled seemed to be floating in the air as he elegantly headed in to make the score 6 - 1 after a corner kick that was nicely executed by
Aw Keng Chuan. As the 89 minute mark approached, the Grilled coach decided it was time for a substitution.
Brian 'Was Born' Reddy reluctantly made way for
Teo Chuan Yong on the pitch.
Mohd Marzuki Khairul would have preferred to play on, but his coach decided otherwise.
Chan Ze Han entered the game for Grilled as the match clock showed 89 minutes. As the match nears its end, the referee has deemed it appropriate to add 2 minutes as stoppage time. A magnificent combination in the middle resulted in Grilled's
Gandhik Chitre increasing the lead to 7 - 1. The match ends 7 - 1. Possession in the forty-five minutes was dominated by Grilled, with 84 percent of the ball.
Most important Grilled player was
Gandhik Chitre. However,
Teo Chuan Yong made a disastrous appearance. Paradiso's top performer was clearly
Jacob Yamada. On the other hand,
Ang Huat Loong's play was disheartening.
