Beng 1 - 7 Grilled

A brilliantly sunny day had enticed a crowd of 80183 to Big Nest Arena Singapore. Furkat Jarkyn Uulu was the appointed referee with assistance provided by Finn-Claas Parzival and Baasan Gantulga. For some players the sunny weather was bad news. It made Powerful and Quick players a bit sluggish. For Technical players, it was instead an advantage, allowing them to shine on the pitch. The match took place on neutral ground. Beng fielded: Hummer - Caletka, Hartmann, Liniņš - Haluško, Hicri, Erbay, Kurzreiter - Cini, Shkodra, Ben Aïcha.

Grilled's lineup was: Vadalà - Webb, Panigrahi - Künzler, Egan, Ze Han, Dong Chu, Parvathaneni - Xin Seng, Mudaliar, Mohammad Harun.

Ah Beng FC entered the field in a 3-4-3 formation. The visitors, Grilled Birds, chose to start the game with a 2-5-3 lineup. Using their counter-attacking abilities was the strategy of choice for Beng on this day, taking advantage of their formidable level with that tactic. 0 - 1 was the score with 5 minutes played, after Vikram Mudaliar cut through the central defence and chipped home a goal for Grilled. With the scoreboard showing that 12 minutes had been played, Grilled nearly put themselves up another goal after Cyril Künzler came through on the left. Fortunately for the home crowd, the keeper made the save. With 19 minutes played, a quick exchange of passes on the left wing freed Bernie Egan of Grilled to slip through the defence and score another goal for the visitors. That made the score 0 - 2. With 22 minutes played, Grilled put themselves up 0 - 3 after an attack from the right, caused by a defensive blunder. The scorer was Gilbert Webb. Benny Shkodra almost reduced the deficit, having drawn the entire left side defence away, but the shot went straight into the arms of the goalkeeper. Chan Ze Han received a delicate pass through the home side's central defence after 39 minutes, and chipped it past the flailing keeper to score making it 0 - 4. The Grilled fans went wild, whilst the home fans started to think about leaving early. 0 - 4 was the halftime score. Grilled claimed to have seen most of the ball, and the statistics agreed with them - possession being 70 percent.

46 minutes into the match, the referee signalled for a Grilled substitution. Chu Xin Lee came on for Vikram Mudaliar. Grilled's Chan Ze Han excelled in some fine tricks that completely confused Joseph Hartmann - and the finish was no less spectacular - 0 - 5! Kalki Parvathaneni of Grilled took advantage of a mistake on the home side's right after 52 minutes which increased the away team's lead to 0 - 6. The home crowd was not impressed when Kalki Parvathaneni came in from the right, shooting hard to score after 55 minutes. Grilled were now up 0 - 7. Jozef Haluško showed why he is feared on the counterattack, breaking through in the middle and scoring for Beng after 58 minutes to make the score 1 - 7. Unhappy with the result so far in the game, the Beng manager used a brief break in play after 60 minutes to give the players new directives. A couple of inches to the right and Joseph Hartmann's free kick 65 minutes into the match would have resulted in the goal of the year for Beng. As the 70 minute mark approached, the Grilled coach decided it was time for a substitution. Bhavya Panigrahi reluctantly made way for 悠太 (Yuta) 中北 (Nakakita) on the pitch. Bernie Egan would have preferred to play on, but his coach decided otherwise. Salah Kamel entered the game for Grilled as the match clock showed 89 minutes. The referee decided to let play continue for an additional 2 minutes beyond the regular 90 minutes. The match ends 1 - 7. Possession in the forty-five minutes was dominated by Grilled, with 72 percent of the ball.

Beng's best player was Aronne Cini. Meriç Erbay turned in a dismal performance, however. The most dominating Grilled player was without a doubt Moey Xin Seng. Manuel Vadalà was a disappointment, however.
