Grilled 5 - 3 Fringeheads

Fairly good weather for football had drawn a crowd of 46072 to The Cooking Pot. Mikko Mäntymaa was the appointed referee with assistance provided by Anton Príhoda and Jasper Leupp. Lineup: Dob - Webb, 中北 (Nakakita) - Künzler, Xin Lee, Mohammad Harun, Muthyala, Dong Chu - Mudaliar, Xin Seng, Egan.

The following players took the field: Aik Shi - Jurkota, Wai Ho, Chan, Patca - Kabić, Koppensteiner, Milostić - Al-Qasem, Kabiri, Tzonkov.

Grilled Birds fielded a 2-5-3 lineup. For Sarcastic Fringeheads, the formation of choice was 4-3-3. Grilled used their divine (+4) ability to concentrate their attacks in the middle of the pitch, rather than on the wings. Fringeheads were relying on their magical ability to counter-attack. Grilled's Chu Xin Lee lived up to his reputation for finding unexpected ways to get the ball in the net when he sent a nifty little pass over to Moey Xin Seng who finished for 1 - 0 with 7 minutes of the match played. Iliya Tzonkov showed why he is feared on the counterattack, breaking through in the middle and scoring for Fringeheads after 12 minutes to make the score 1 - 1. Grilled players heard their coach's words ringing in their ears and steered their wing attacks to the middle instead. Making his way up the middle 31 minutes into the match, Cyril Künzler almost managed to squeeze a goal past the visitors' keeper, but the alert Tan Aik Shi blocked it to keep the score level. After a fine move down the middle Bernie Egan nearly gave the home side a goal after 35 minutes. However the finishing shot went just wide. They were singing the praises of Vikram Mudaliar 39 minutes into the match after his speculative chip from the middle of the penalty box found its way over the visitors' keeper to make the score 2 - 1 to Grilled. Fringeheads's Satrap Kabiri excelled in some fine tricks that completely confused Neeraj Muthyala - and the finish was no less spectacular - 2 - 2! 2 - 2 was the halftime score. Possession in this half belonged to Grilled, who controlled the ball 67 percent of the time.

悠太 (Yuta) 中北 (Nakakita) would have preferred to play on, but his coach decided otherwise. Bhavya Panigrahi entered the game for Grilled as the match clock showed 46 minutes. It was obvious that team Grilled had instructions to attack in the middle instead of on the wings. Grilled took the lead 59 minutes into the game by 3 - 2, as Cyril Künzler elegantly received a long range pass through the middle, finishing off with a half-volley shot just below the bar. The home side's Cyril Künzler curled a free kick home after 62 minutes, putting Grilled ahead 4 - 2. As the 63 minute mark approached, the Fringeheads coach decided it was time for a substitution. Miljenko Kabić reluctantly made way for Radomír Adam on the pitch. Miljenko Kabić was coming off, and had placed his last free kick for the day. That meant that Loh Wai Ho got the chance to showcase his dead ball skills. The away team improved the scoreline to 4 - 3, as Loh Wai Ho struck home, set up well by a play on the left 75 minutes into the match. After 75 minutes, the Grilled coach wanted to see a new face on the pitch, waving Bernie Egan off the field. Chan Ze Han took his place. 77 minutes into the match, the referee signalled for a Fringeheads substitution. Magnus Stang came on for David Koppensteiner. Cheers filled the stadium as Chu Xin Lee broke through the visitors' central defence to put away the ball to increase the lead to 5 - 3 to Grilled. Grilled's Bhavya Panigrahi saw his fine effort strike the top of the bar following some good work up the middle by his teammates after 83 minutes. 89 minutes into the game, Grilled wanted to bring some new energy to their game. Vikram Mudaliar gave Kalki Parvathaneni a quick hug as he left the field. It was announced by the referee that he estimated stoppage time to be around 3 minutes. This meant there could still be an extra attack or two left in the match! The match ends 5 - 3. Grilled enjoyed most of the ball, as they maintained 65 percent of possession.

The most dominating Grilled player was without a doubt Kalki Parvathaneni. Bhavya Panigrahi turned in a dismal performance, however. Most important Fringeheads player was Iliya Tzonkov. On the other hand, Tan Aik Shi's play was disheartening.
