Dragon 1 - 2 Grilled

24851 spectators had come to Singa Arena this cloudy day. George Pârvu was the appointed referee with assistance provided by Christian Oberluggauer and Sigurður Matthíasson. The match took place on neutral ground. Starters: Campo Lameiro - Heido, Jie Jin, Prisăcariu - Hariry, Škrabal, Cheng Heng, Puay Jun, Pentaparthi - Schaffers, Grivot.

The following players had been chosen: Dob - Trung Quá, 中北 (Nakakita) - Künzler, Mudaliar, Ze Han, Muthyala, Xin Seng - Davlatov, Egan, Mohammad Harun.

Dragon Devil's fielded a 3-5-2 lineup. For Grilled Birds, the formation of choice was 2-5-3. It was an obvious ambition of Dragon to use their utopian ability at attacking on the flanks. Grilled mostly ignored the flanks in favour of their ability to attack in the middle, taking advantage of their magical level with that tactic. 17 minutes into the match and the home team took a 1 - 0 lead after breaking through on the left. The scorer for Dragon was Oliver Heido. Coming through the middle Moey Xin Seng almost scored the equaliser for Grilled after 29 minutes, but Vivencio Campo Lameiro made an excellent save, tipping the awkward curled shot past the post. It was 1 - 0 at the break. Possession in this half belonged to Grilled, who controlled the ball 55 percent of the time.

The bench was restless, and with 46 minutes passed Grilled's coach gave Chu Xin Lee the opportunity the player had been hoping for. Moey Xin Seng reluctantly left the field. Although the whole team were struggling to impress, Grilled's Hoàng Trung Quá was singled out as being the problem as he was called off the pitch after 46 minutes. Gilbert Webb was given a chance to change things around. With 67 minutes played, Daniel Škrabal of Dragon fell dramatically just outside the penalty area. However, the referee was unimpressed, and booked him for diving. Dragon's Daniel Škrabal placed the ball right at his teammate's feet after a corner, but Oliver Heido couldn't finish. After 73 minutes, Massoud Dob suffered a slight injury to his left calf muscle. However, it was not enough to stop him from continuing the game. Sunil Pentaparthi wanted to play on, but the Dragon coach had other ideas, and he was replaced 76 minutes into the game by Noah Tisne. 82 minutes into the game Grilled's Bilal Mohammad Harun found a gap in the home side's central defence and scored with a fabulous shot, making it 1 - 1. Grilled had a good opportunity to attack on the wing, but remembered their instructions to go for middle attacks. Grilled's Cyril Künzler hurt his back 84 minutes into the match, and had to be convinced by the medical team that it was safer not to continue the match. This gave Florus Romijn a chance to take to the field instead. With Cyril Künzler no longer on the pitch, Gilbert Webb took over free kick duty. It was obvious that team Grilled had instructions to attack in the middle instead of on the wings. Grilled took the lead 85 minutes into the game, making the score 1 - 2 after some elegant movement down the middle. Bilal Mohammad Harun was the scorer. Dragon needed a fresh pair of legs on the field, and after 85 minutes Tan Jie Jin made way for Ssima Suren. The referee announced 2 minutes of stoppage time, giving fans a slim hope that their team could get one more attack in before this was all over. The match ends 1 - 2. Grilled enjoyed most of the ball, as they maintained 54 percent of possession.

Chong Puay Jun performed admirably for Dragon. Oliver Heido on the other hand, had a terrible day. Grilled's top performer was clearly Islom Davlatov. Vikram Mudaliar was a disappointment, however.
