Grilled 3 - 5 Abate

The clouds were hanging menacingly over the stadium today. They fielded: Germanakos - Panigrahi, Hutter - An Keng, Mohammad Harun, Keng Chuan, Parvathaneni, Trindade - Ze Han, Xin Seng, Chitre.

The following players took the field: Nadeau - Rəhimov, Aiwan, 信祥 (Xinxiang) - Jokikokko, Houri, Flint, Văn Anh, Chilimoniuk - Windhaber, Escayola.

Grilled Birds fielded a 2-5-3 lineup. For F.C Rosy Abate, the formation of choice was a 3-5-2. Grilled mostly ignored the flanks in favor of their mythical (17) ability to attack in the middle. Down the middle came Dobrogniew Chilimoniuk, making a fantastic play that nearly saw Abate take the lead after 2 minutes, but Dimitris Germanakos preserved the tie. Kalki Parvathaneni's name was chanted throughout the stadium after his goal in minute 8 following a run up the middle gave Grilled the 1 - 0 lead. After 35 minutes, the visitors evened the score after Víctor Juan Escayola made it through the middle and struck home making it 1 - 1. 1 - 1 was the score after the first half. Abate set the tempo, maintaining 53 percent of possession.

After 46 minutes, the Grilled coach wanted to see a new face on the field, waving Kalki Parvathaneni off. Chia Kwang Tse took his place. 46 minutes into the match, the referee signaled for a Grilled substitution. Enrique Baena came on for Lim An Keng. With clinical precision, the cross from winger Paulino Trindade found its way to Chia Kwang Tse's head, and a screaming header gave Grilled a goal after 58 minutes played. The scoreboard read 2 - 1. Grilled's Bhavya Panigrahi saw his fine effort strike the top of the bar following some good work up the middle by his teammates 71 minutes in. Grilled's Aw Keng Chuan was shown a yellow card for standing over the ball and blocking an opponent's quick free kick after 78 minutes. 79 minutes into the match, Abate's Ville Jokikokko demonstrated his running prowess as he raced past his defender and passed the ball to Nathan Windhaber who chipped it in for 2 - 2. Sometimes you wonder why a defender wouldn't stay on his feet in a situation like that. Unfortunately for the home fans, the referee had no choice but to award the penalty 82 minutes into the game and Diyar Aiwan did his job, making it 2 - 3. The bench was restless, and with 82 minutes gone Grilled's coach gave Teo Chuan Yong the opportunity to try to change the team's fortunes. Moey Xin Seng reluctantly left the field. Grilled players heard their coach's words ringing in their ears and steered their wing attacks to the middle instead. The crowd roared in delight as Teo Chuan Yong finished off a spectacular series of plays up the middle to even the score for Grilled after 85 minutes. 3 - 3. 86 minutes into the match, Abate nearly took the lead, as Thomas Flint broke through on the right. However, Dimitris Germanakos made the save. After 87 minutes, Grilled began to show their lack of experience and they threatened to wilt under the heavy pressure from their opposition. The fourth official announced that there would be 3 minutes of stoppage time, giving fans a slim hope that their team could get one more attack in before this was all over. Still tied after 93 minutes, the match continued into extra time. Abate did a good job holding on to the ball, with 56 percent of possession. We'll be back after these interminable commercial messages.

Grilled's coach had to raise his voice a little, but he also managed to raise his players' organization to solid (7) after reviewing his strategy. Given a free kick from an impossible angle, Abate went for a play that loyal fans may recognize from training. A square ball surprised the defense and let Nùng Văn Anh slip through at goal. He hit it first time, making the score 3 - 4, 95 minutes into the game. Some fine one-twos on the left led to a Abate goal with 107 minutes gone, making it 3 - 5. Víctor Juan Escayola was noted down as the scorer. The match ends 3 - 5. Grilled's top performer was clearly Chan Ze Han. Speaking of stinking up the place, Gandhik Chitre sure smelled like the bottom of Batman's shoe after a night of crimefighting in Gotham. Most important Abate player was Mounir Houri. You can tell it was nickel beer night yesterday at the local bar because 桂 (Gui) 信祥 (Xinxiang) seemed to stumble all over the pitch.
