Guang Qiang Steps Up
The Farmer Bunnies would promote yet another of their academy boys to the main squad today, with
Lim Guang Qiang putting pen to paper on a four-year contract. Despite his average stature and self-admittedly abrasive personality, Lim had commanded the respect of his peers at the Rancher Rabbit for one simple reason - he did his job very well.
"Guang Qiang made just about any forward he was assigned to uncomfortable, which speaks best for his qualities." assistant coach Li Aik Meng commented. "He knows to get under their skin, but that's not to say that he doesn't have the rest of the kit - tackling, strength, pace... he can hold his own in all those dimensions."
It was perhaps a sign of this esteem - and the following expectations - that Lim was assigned the Number 23 jersey that outgoing Ghana international Richard Agyei had worn, for his first eight seasons at the club. "It suits him well." Li added. "Let's hope he lives up to it."
