Hear Olaisen Roar
The reason for Tajit bin Mohd
's recent distraction was finally revealed, as he introduced 58 year-old Norwegian Roar Olaisen
as his replacement, after a secret search.
"Grilled International's growing terribly fast, and the board wanted me to be Director of Football - so you can say that I've been kicked upstairs." Tajit joked. "It's come rather abruptly for me as well, I can tell you that."
Tajit will be passing his coaching role on to experienced hands, given that Olaisen has chalked up some forty years in the game - first as a trainee striker with relegation stars, before crisscrossing the globe in a playing career that spanned the Netherlands, Peru, Brazil, Albania and finally Spain. The highlight was probably winning a Division Six Golden Boot with Peru's SuperDotados FC, as a 23 year-old.
Olaisen would earn his coaching badges while in Spain with MaxPauer, and oversaw them as head coach for some twelve seasons, leading them to two Division Six titles before retiring back home as a youth scout. The call of competition was too strong, however, and he would return to the fray two years ago with Argentine Division Five club Deportivo Concordiense. Unfortunately, they were relegated in his first season there, but International saw a gem worthy of being headhunted nonetheless.
"Olaisen's great with youngsters, and has an overall skillset that few coaches can match." Tajit said. "His philosophy is definitely attacking, but without fixation on the details. I can assure the fans that they will be seeing some fireworks at Burung."
Tajit would be more circumspect about Olaisen's signing bonus, which some have rumoured to be over five million, over several seasons. "I don't think that's relevant to our objectives here."
