Bent Thirteen
The Bunnies' quest to beef up their strikeforce went on, as they signed 33 year-old Algerian
Abderahim Bentellis on a short-term contract. Formerly a youth international, Bentellis spent twelve seasons with mid-level Portuguese club LEÃO VX, after half a year in Russia with SalutS. He had hoped to give his career a shot in the arm, with a move to Spanish Division Six team Rasteam F.C., but trouble fitting in saw Dutch gaffer Jannes Bosman freeze him out for the better part of two months.
This didn't dissuade
Sikong Darong, who saw in Bentellis a burning urge to make it. "It all clicked when we saw what we could do for each other." Sikong said. "We're driving ahead with promotion and serious cup contention, and there's always space for top, experienced strikers to shore up that department."
Sikong noted that Bentellis was unlikely to stay more than a couple of seasons. "We've come to an agreement on that point. But, again, two years is a long time, and Bent will have plenty of time to make big contributions. What we need now is goals, and if there's anything Bent can do, it's to make things happen."
