Munefumi To Leverkusen
The Birds placed yet another of their trainees with an European outfit today, with Spain's Bayer Leverkusen 16 taking 18 year-old Munefumi Fujiwara on a free. Primarily a defensive midfielder - coincidentally like Grilled's most prominent former Japanese-Singaporean apprentices
Yuki Irie and
Yuta Nakakita - Munefumi's adaptability has further been lauded by his youth coaches.
"We should probably have gotten him more games, but I don't think Mune suffered for it." chief scout Tham Beng Li admitted. "He's a very disciplined and driven character, and I think it came through in his interviews." Munefumi will join teenaged Taiwanese defender Liang Yuzong at the Division Seven club, having also received an approach from FC Grinta of the Belgian Sixth Division.
Meanwhile, Grilled head coach
Djan Bacelar has refused to comment on his rumoured pursuit of forwards Loïc Paquay and Robustiano Ureta, while his Farmer Bunnies counterpart
Sikong Darong put in a failed bid for 23 year-old Algerian midfielder Jallal Malamane.
