Lau, Wong Honoured

Farmer Bunnies got their first two homegrown U-20 internationals today, with 19 year-old defenders Lau Chang Wan and Wong Ting Yew earning national colours against the historically-steeped Sweden side. Lau started at defensive right wing in the 0-2 away defeat, while Wong entered in the 85th minute for Mia San Toa Payoh debutant Jerry Lim.

Bunnies head coach Elias van Dal was over the moon. "We knew this day would be coming, with Tham Leng Teck having being called up already, but it remained something of a surprise. The boys themselves were the most taken aback of all, when we announced it in the dressing room after morning training!"

A natural question would be how Tham, who had widely been expected to be the one who would carry the flag, was taking it, and van Dal declined to comment. "It's very unfortunate that the U-20 side got into those scheduling mix-ups at the World Cup proper, but life goes on."
