Grilled 4 - 2 Singapore
Fairly good weather for football had drawn a crowd of 71505 to
The Cooking Pot.
Ricardo Zurita was the appointed referee with assistance provided by
Sergio Busquets and
Jorge Leoz. Grilled fielded:
Germanakos -
Himadas,
其材 (Qicai) -
Reddy,
Teck Fu,
Keng Chuan,
Kwang Tse,
Trindade -
Thach,
Chitre,
An Keng.
Singapore's lineup was:
Westerlaan -
Walsh,
Naik,
Ramasike,
Averett -
Da Kong,
Lobashov,
Báthory-Bozó,
Eloidze,
Gaudério -
Veerma.
The teams had chosen different formations for the match. Home team Grilled Birds went for 2-5-3 while Singapore Red Dragons has decided to play a 4-5-1 lineup. Grilled seemed to prefer attacking in the middle, taking advantage of their divine (+7) (27) level with that tactic.
Roman Eloidze's speed was clear to see after 6 minutes, as he darted down the wing and released
Badico Gaudério who placed the ball into the back of the net to make the score 0 - 1. After 14 minutes of play,
Gandhik Chitre evened things up for Grilled with an impressive goal coming up the middle. 1 - 1. 20 minutes into the match, the technically gifted
Gandhik Chitre of Grilled scored 2 - 1, having made
Parmeet Naik look like a complete fool. Things were going to get worse for the visitors.
Hwang Teck Fu squirmed through their central defence after 26 minutes, increasing the lead to 3 - 1. A great save by keeper
Tsjitse Westerlaan after 36 minutes kept the visitors in the game after
Lim An Keng struck from the left with a real cannonball. Singapore's
Sipho Ramasike left the field after 41 minutes having twisted his hand in a collision, causing a slight injury. The replacement for the injured player was
Dmitriy Ryaboshapko. 3 - 1 was the score after the first half. Grilled had most of the ball, with 60 percent of possession.
The cannonball from 35 metres by
Hwang Teck Fu of Grilled was an impressive sight, but didn't make it into the net. After 75 minutes, the Grilled coach wanted to see a new face on the pitch, waving
Aw Keng Chuan off the field.
Mohd Marzuki Khairul took his place. With 75 minutes played,
Gandhik Chitre could have brought this one home for Grilled as he charged up on the left, but his hooked ball went just a bit too high. Singapore's counterattacks were lethal to the opposing defence, allowing
Peh 'Predator' Da Kong to score easily from the right flank for 3 - 2. 79 minutes into the game, Grilled were awarded a penalty that
Raúl Himadas turned into 4 - 2 without a problem. Grilled's
Brian 'Was Born' Reddy got himself booked for a foul. 89 minutes into the game, Grilled wanted to bring some new energy to their game.
Raúl Himadas gave
Damian Hutter a quick hug as he left the field. As
Raúl Himadas left the field, the coach signaled to
Brian 'Was Born' Reddy to be the new set pieces taker.
Gandhik Chitre would have preferred to play on, but his coach decided otherwise.
Chan Ze Han entered the game for Grilled as the match clock showed 89 minutes. The players were tired, but when the referee announced that there would be 3 minutes of added time they, nonetheless, welcomed the extra opportunity to make an impact. The match ends 4 - 2. Grilled enjoyed most of the ball, as they maintained 60 percent of possession.
Grilled's top performer was clearly
Lim An Keng.
Damian Hutter was a disappointment, however. Singapore's best player was
Robert Veerma. However,
Parmeet Naik made a disastrous appearance.
