Grilled 5 - 1 Beng
It was an exceptionally sunny day for the crowd of 17516 that came out to
Love Street Stadium.
Jef Van Helleputte was the appointed referee with assistance provided by
Stanisław Hawryluk and
Tomáš Jurák. It was a very hot day and some players suffered from this, especially those relying on tough physical play or a lot of fast runs. For the technical ones, on the other hand, this was ideal conditions. The match took place on neutral ground. The following players had been chosen by Grilled:
Germanakos -
An Keng,
Hutter -
Ferzan,
Kwang Tse,
Keng Chuan,
Teck Fu,
Trindade -
Balde,
Ze Han,
Chitre.
Beng fielded:

Schupbach.
Grilled Birds entered the field in a 2-5-3 formation. The visitors, Ah Beng FC, chose to start the game with a 3-4-3 lineup. Grilled tried to focus their attacks down the middle, taking advantage of their divine (+2) (22) level with that tactic. Beng seemed to prefer attacking in the middle, taking advantage of their magical (18) level with that tactic. The home side put themselves ahead 1 - 0 after 3 minutes courtesy of a breakthrough from
Lim An Keng, who scored with a stunning volley following a cross from the right wing. The referee showed Beng's
Kevin Laa the yellow card after a particularly nasty challenge. After 37 minutes, a couple of quick and successful challenges followed by a shot from just outside the penalty area by
Lim An Keng might have resulted in another goal for Grilled. However,
Bennie Heidekorn made a spectacular save. The visitors didn't give in and, after 41 minutes,
Kasperi Ranta got through the home side's central line of defence, rolling in the equaliser to make it 1 - 1. The visitors' central defence should have had no trouble clearing the pass to
Paulino Trindade, but the Grilled player managed to shrug them off and fired a low shot past the keeper to give his team the lead. 2 - 1! The opposing supporters gave the referee an earful when he only gave
Eugenio Schupbach from Beng a yellow card after a mistimed challenge from behind 44 minutes into the game. That was far too lenient! Halftime score was 2 - 1. Possession in the forty-five minutes was dominated by Grilled, with 60 percent of the ball.
Central attacks were the recipe of the day for Grilled, as they moved the ball from the wings to the middle with startling regularity. Things were going to get worse for the visitors.
Hwang Teck Fu squirmed through their central defence after 52 minutes, increasing the lead to 3 - 1. As the 75 minute mark approached, the Grilled coach decided it was time for a substitution.
Chan Ze Han reluctantly made way for
Phua Ming Xin on the pitch. As
Chan Ze Han left the field, the coach signaled to
Aw Keng Chuan to be the new set pieces taker.
Lim An Keng was the new captain of Grilled - handed the armband by the departing player. After 79 minutes, the away team failed to deal with a good exchange of passes on the right, and
Gandhik Chitre gave the Grilled supporters even more to cheer about when he increased the lead to 4 - 1. Beng's
Florin Sofian got himself booked for a foul. Grilled's
Phua Ming Xin finished emphatically to make the score 5 -1 after 82 minutes, after the enigmatic
Damian Hutter pulled a delightful long pass from his box of tricks to bypass the defence. 89 minutes into the match, the referee signalled for a Grilled substitution.
Brian 'Was Born' Reddy came on for
Paulino Trindade. The players were tired, but when the referee announced that there would be 2 minutes of added time they, nonetheless, welcomed the extra opportunity to make an impact. Grilled's
Egemen Dinçer Ferzan saw his fine effort strike the top of the bar following some good work up the middle by his teammates after 89 minutes. The match ends 5 - 1. Possession in this half belonged to Grilled, who controlled the ball 61 percent of the time.
Grilled's top performer was clearly
Chia Kwang Tse.
Lim An Keng turned in a dismal performance, however. Beng's best player was
Bennie Heidekorn.
Nikolay Yaichkin on the other hand, had a terrible day.
