Grilled Birds would finally get their first points in III.1 at the fourth try, although Woodlands' Mayuyu AKB48 held a lead to half-time, in front of some thirty-nine thousands expectant fans. To be fair, Sergio García de Camargo's side had not been severely tested till this point, although their use of width - particularly through Italian skipper Gerardo Ravarotto on the right flank - was uniformly respected throughout the league. Former Slovakian youth international Rudolf Kefalín in defence, and Hungarian hotshot Hunor Inczédi in attack, gave them more than adequate quality all around.
Their 4-4-2 left them a bit lightweight on control, however, all the more with Lucas Wauquier's tendency to find himself overcommitted on the attack. This left the Birds to make the first two serious attempts on target within the initial ten minutes, as Bilal Mohammad Harun abandoned Ravarotto briefly to test Philip Boestlinger with a raking long shot four minutes in. Aw Keng Chuan was next to have a go after a Birds sequence started to get bogged down, and he did well to land a lob on top of the net.

It was Ravarotto to get through before Grilled, however, as the tricky winger showed just why he had been so feared in one-on-one situations, through his career. Bilal, encouraged by his earlier effort, had left Ravarotto for Lim An Keng and Gilbert Webb to jointly handle, which turned out a bad idea. Exhibiting some incredible balance, Ravarotto would twist his way between the twain from the touchline - and the narrow angle wouldn't dissuade him either, as he squeezed it past Dimitris Germanakos for 1-0.

That goal had Tian Yonghang noticeably shake his head and turn his back on the sidelines, but Grilled Birds were at least dominating midfield quite clearly. All that time on the ball had to come good for them eventually, despite some notably poor decisions from trainees Lim and Thach, and the latter would open some space for his forwards with a brave dribble straight ahead in the 24th minute, aided by a dash of luck, as the ball came kindly off Antonio Olivieri's tackle for him. Thach scrambled it on for Chan Ze Han, and the Number Eleven duly claimed only his second league goal of the term.

While the Birds continued to push hard, Enrique Baena would be upended by Jurica Prusina as he brought the ball forward several minutes on, which developed into a full-blown counterattack for Mayuyu once referee Shohjahon Safarov inexplicably refused to call the foul. There would be three Mayuyu men rushing into the box as Prusina bent it in, and it would be Lucas Wauquier to tap it in, at the far post. Kalki Parvathaneni would lead a bunch of his teammates to confront the referee, but was firmly warned off.

This was how it stayed for the half as the hosts defended stoutly, and Tian would resort to a triple substitution to begin the second half. Lim, Kalki and Baena were off, and Chia Kwang Tse, Moey Xin Seng and Paulino Trindade entered for them. Chan Ze Han would retain the armband, although from how Moey turned the match around almost by his own, there was no question about who was the true leader today.

Mayuyu were eager to continue pressing their fortune, and another bold run from Ravarotto might well have led to their third, in the 54th minute. Germanakos had to be at his best then, and barely managed to ward Ravarotto's strong strike away, with a double-handed punch. There would still be hearts in mouths as Bhavya Panigrahi tangled with Inczédi in a dangerous position, but the Birds defender came away with the ball. A minute later, Moey Xin Seng received it on the edge of Mayuyu's box, and he proceeded to skip coolly past Luis Bique, before prodding the equalizer home calmly.

If that brought the volume from the stands down a lot, it would be nothing compared to his header a minute later, which entirely silenced the crowd. It was Prusina's turn to come second-best against the robust Paulino Trindade, who went for the early cross instead of taking Brazilian fullback Élvis Cachoeira on. This made it a challenging ball for any striker to reach, but nothing Moey wasn't familiar with, and he would direct an incredible dipping header into the far corner of the goal, while backpedalling.

Moey would be mobbed by his teammates at that, but mindful of how they had let the Tonners back in, the experienced skipper would be seen requesting them to keep their heads clear. This advice was on point, as it turned out, from how Mayuyu entered one of their best spells of the day immediately afterwards. Joonas Ahola would cause plenty of trouble, including a dribble along the outside of the penalty area that Webb had to cut short. Luis Bique fired the free-kick at the top corner, and was only denied by another full-stretch leap from Dimitris Germanakos.

Mayuyu weren't throwing in the towel yet, and their continued attacks down the flanks had the Birds pulled this way and that, with Chia Kwang Tse booked in the 77th minute for an unsightly but necessary foul on Ravarotto. Ahola then cracked one soundly off the post, leading to Chan Ze Han leading the charge back down the left side, only to lift it inches over. From how he implored the sky after that latest miss, he is yet to regain his usual standards.

That left Grilled with their slender lead at least, but it would remain very nervous, until Chia Kwang Tse settled it with his first-ever league goal. It was hardly planned, but when Cachoeira lost it on the turn to Trindade, it became open season. Chan Ze Han very unselfishly scooped it on for Chia when he might have gone for it himself, and was rewarded with a confident finish from the grateful youngster.
