The 29270 spectators at The Cooking Pot were in for an afternoon of sunshine. Antonio Periccioli was the appointed referee with assistance provided by Nadir Mwambalaswa and Ştefan Peicea. The intense heat made it hard for players relying on strength or speed to shine. On the other hand, it provided perfect conditions for the more technical players. The following players took the field for Grilled: Vadalà - Panigrahi, Webb - Baena, Thach, Keng Chuan, Kwang Tse, Mohammad Harun - Ze Han, Xin Seng, Chuan Yong.

The following players had been chosen by Arcturules: Perticone - Schwerma, Karhunen, Hyvärinen, Dostals, Dogar - Esdaile, Heep, Kheir Allah, Ortega Molina - Mpondo.

The teams had chosen different formations for the match. Home team Grilled Birds went for 2-5-3 while Arcturules has decided to play a 5-4-1 lineup. Grilled clearly preferred using their mythical (17) ability to attack in the middle. Grilled made it 1 - 0 as Aw Keng Chuan got a touch to the floated corner kick and flicked the ball to Moey Xin Seng who whipped a low drive in off the far post. The visitors didn't give in and, after 28 minutes, Anis Kheir Allah got through the home side's central line of defence, rolling in the equaliser to make it 1 - 1. The guests took the lead 40 minutes into the match, after a right-side attack resulted in Innocent Mpondo scoring to make it 1 - 2. Teo Chuan Yong showed the skills that make him a real crowd pleaser as he, after 41 minutes, wove through the guests' entire central defence and put the 2 - 2 equaliser away. Grilled players heard their coach's words ringing in their ears and steered their wing attacks to the middle instead. Making his way up the middle 43 minutes into the match, Moey Xin Seng almost managed to squeeze a goal past the visitors' keeper, but the alert Goffredo Perticone blocked it to keep the score level. 2 - 2 was the score after the first half. Possession in this half belonged to Grilled, who controlled the ball 54 percent of the time.

As the 46 minute mark approached, the Grilled coach decided it was time for a substitution. Chia Kwang Tse reluctantly made way for Lim An Keng on the pitch. With the match clock at 46 minutes, Arcturules modified their style of play a little bit. After 52 minutes, Chan Ze Han came in from the right, feinted, then sped past the off-balance defender to make the score 3 - 2, giving Grilled the lead. It was obvious that team Grilled had instructions to attack in the middle instead of on the wings. Teo Chuan Yong should probably have put his team up another goal after 55 minutes after breaking through the middle, but some great goalkeeping by Goffredo Perticone kept the visitors in the game. Grilled had a good opportunity to attack on the wing, but remembered their instructions to go for middle attacks. Grilled's Bhavya Panigrahi saw his fine effort strike the top of the bar following some good work up the middle by his teammates after 60 minutes. The Arcturules coach was desperate to reverse his team's fortunes in the game, and ordered his team to change strategy. Grilled's Aw Keng Chuan got himself booked for a foul. Okwunudu Dogar was unable to continue, following a slight injury to his right knee after 69 minutes. This gave Florian Fromentin a chance to take to the field instead. As the game started to slip away for Arcturules, the manager decided to change the tactical approach. The crowd was silenced 74 minutes into the match as the visiting team's Axel Heep came in from the left, levelling the score to 3 - 3. After 89 minutes, the Grilled coach wanted to see a new face on the pitch, waving Gilbert Webb off the field. Hwang Teck Fu took his place. 89 minutes into the game, Grilled wanted to bring some new energy to their game. Chan Ze Han gave Mohd Marzuki Khairul a quick hug as he left the field. The players were tired, but when the referee announced that there would be 3 minutes of added time they, nonetheless, welcomed the extra opportunity to make an impact. The match ends 3 - 3. Grilled had most of the ball, with 53 percent of possession.

Moey Xin Seng performed admirably for Grilled. Hwang Teck Fu turned in a dismal performance, however. Most important Arcturules player was Innocent Mpondo. Javier Dostals on the other hand, had a terrible day.
