Grilled 5 - 1 UDNTK

65488 fans braved the pouring rain at The Cooking Pot. Tammo Redeker was the appointed referee with assistance provided by Luis Waschbüsch and Pierre-Olivier Urien. The rain was pouring down, it was the kind of weather favoured by strong players who stick to simple football. For players possessing of speed or technical skills, the day really was as grim as for everyone else. The following players took the field: Dob - Webb, 中北 (Nakakita) - Künzler, Davlatov, Egan, Mohammad Harun, Romijn - Mudaliar, Ze Han, Parvathaneni.

Starters: Târlă - Jaštšembskis, Lee Kwang, Zhekov, Mantovani, Grabmair - Huat Wan, Choon Yeng, Shun Keng, Guang Yun, Velasco Miranda -.

It was to be a contest between two different football philosophies, since the home team started the game with a 2-5-3 formation while the visitors instead opted for 5-5-0. Grilled used their divine (+2) ability to concentrate their attacks in the middle of the pitch, rather than on the wings. UDNTK were relying on their divine ability to counter-attack. Grilled's opponents know to be wary of Florus Romijn's speed, but it made little difference as he flew past the defence 11 minutes into the game. Only the keeper could stop him - and he did with a perfectly timed dive! After 27 minutes of play, Florus Romijn gave the home team a 1 - 0 lead after an attack coming in from the right. Islom Davlatov almost seemed to dance around Eliano Mantovani, his movements were so smooth. Unfortunately for Grilled, his finish ended up on the wrong side of the post. With the clock showing 42 minutes played, a great pass from the defensive line of UDNTK resulted in a counterattack that was smoothly brought under control by Simon Grabmair in the centre of the opposition's penalty area, but his finish went high. Islom Davlatov should probably have put his team up another goal after 44 minutes after breaking through the middle, but some great goalkeeping by Paul Târlă kept the visitors in the game. Cheers filled the stadium as Bernie Egan broke through the visitors' central defence to put away the ball to increase the lead to 2 - 0 to Grilled. 2 - 0 was the halftime score. Grilled had most of the ball, with 64 percent of possession.

UDNTK played a good counterattacking move down the left 58 minutes into the match, with Álvaro Velasco Miranda finishing well for 2 - 1. With 61 minutes played, Grilled's well-worked indirect free kick caused havoc in the penalty area, and when the ball eventually fell to Florus Romijn he gleefully slotted the ball home to make it 3 - 1. With 62 minutes played, Grilled put themselves up 4 - 1 when the visiting defenders lost the ball to Kalki Parvathaneni, who came up from the left and proceeded to coolly round the keeper and knock the ball home. The coach of Grilled was happy with the game so far, but still wanted to change the line up. After 79 minutes, Hoàng Trung Quá came on for 悠太 (Yuta) 中北 (Nakakita). Vikram Mudaliar wanted to play on, but the Grilled coach had other ideas, and he was replaced 89 minutes into the game by José Luiz Velho. It was announced by the referee that he estimated stoppage time to be around 2 minutes. This meant there could still be an extra attack or two left in the match! Grilled's Gilbert Webb increased the lead to 5 - 1, after he saw his shot go between the legs of the advancing goalkeeper following some good play down the right wing after 89 minutes. The opposing supporters gave the referee an earful when he only gave Cyril Künzler from Grilled a yellow card after a mistimed challenge from behind 89 minutes into the game. That was far too lenient! The match ends 5 - 1. Possession in the forty-five minutes was dominated by Grilled, with 64 percent of the ball.

Most important Grilled player was Kalki Parvathaneni. Hoàng Trung Quá on the other hand, had a terrible day. UDNTK's top performer was clearly Paul Târlă. Kwek Huat Wan was a disappointment, however.
