Devils Munched
John Spark
Using a full first team finally allowed Grilled to prevail in a friendly game, with Devils München, a German Division Seven club which happens to have Paris Hilton as their mascot, on the receiving end.
The Birds were due a celebration after promoting, and the thrashing by FC PK Grinders wasn't going it cut it. Playing in full white against the Devils in their usual red and white horizonal stripes, Grilled seized ascendancy and went ahead through solid Scotsman
John MacKinnon.
Quah Han Kok was next to get past the last man, as Subri showed that he was more than just a finisher, with a finely weighted pass timed perfectly to Quah's run. MacKinnon then blasted it over from less than five metres out, but the levity of the game allowed him to enjoy a smile at his own expense.
Nawaz Talib's showy goal in the 35th minute was either sportingly or ironically applauded by some of the home fans, and in either case the Pakistani lapped the attention up. Keeper Yannick Paul Waldthausen, who has already moved four teams in a short career, didn't quite appreciate that as much.
The fans were quick to turn on Ávra after the defender scythed through Pavlov from the back, which could easily have been a red card for the Hungarian. Perhaps because Pavlov was still able to walk away, the referee flashed a yellow instead.
Rotteveel then turned it on to get a brace in the final twenty minutes, while Quah completed one of his own with a bit of pickpocketing in the danger zone.
