A restless youth who took the secondary school scene by storm when unearthed, Quah's inflated, if not wholly unjustified, vision of himself led to a public falling out with his coaches. He nearly left Grilled, but was coaxed into the side where he now learns the hard reality of soccer.

Han Kok did Grilled proud when he became the first active international for the Birds when he was named against India in an U-20 game, aged just nineteen. His achievements came full circle some eleven years on, as he played for Singapore against Austria in the World Cup, aged 31.

Quah eventually left to fulfil his wish for an overseas experience before he retires for good, after having almost done it all on the local scene. Although an S-League winner's medal would elude him, even that could not add much more gloss to an already glittering career.
