Wafid's Wait Over
A month after graduating from the Chicken Wings, playmaker Wafid Faizun obtained a free transfer to Palestine Division Three club Aywa, affiliate of Lithuanian club Nežaisliukai, and will begin his professional career based in Betlehem.
Competition is expected to be fierce as Aywa have also picked up three similar trainees - Bangladeshi Masroor Kapali, Kenyan Azizi Mwachofi and Ghanaian Kwadwo Mintah - but Wafid declared himself up for it. "It's just what I was waiting for, a platform."
Wings chief scout Tham Beng Li was pleasantly surprised at the news. "It has been a very slow hiring period overall, so I have to congratulate Faizun." he said. "There are still some fundamentals he could do with working on, but he has shown good instinct in the air. He should be able to contribute immediately from set-pieces, at least."
It will be the end of the line for former Rancher Rabbits Ling Loong Siong and Kwok Sze Kian however, as the pair of friends decided to give up on pursuing a footballing career after a fruitless search. Their senior Chang Yeng Tong, together with Wings midfielder Kohei Okuya are still hanging on, in hopes of a late offer.
