Chen Recruited
Farmer Bunnies obtained their second trainee from Pre Champions FC today, as they signed
Chen Chin De on a free. Zürich-based Atlético Oetwil were reportedly also interested in taking Chen on, but the 17 year-old resolved to stay in the country for the time being after taking his family's wishes into account.
In what can only be regarded as a good omen for the youngster, no less than former youth international
Sikong Darong vouched for him. "Chen carries himself well, and I daresay I see a little of the young me in the boy." Sikong commented, after watching Chen go through his first training session. "He has fine range for his age, but could do with a bit of bulking up."
For Chen, however, he would just be more than happy to replicate Pre Champions FC alumni Lim Rong Su's career for now. Lim has worked his way into the starting lineup of Belgian club De VossenBurcht after leaving the Bunnies last season, and has even managed five goals from centreback.
There was a further bit of housekeeping going on, as former Warrior trainee Aswad Mohd Jafni traded his Number 35 jersey for the Number Five one, last worn by Ibad Hanis. "Aswad deserves it."
Elias van Dal said. "He's been excellent so far, and had it not been for that string of niggling minor injuries, he'd be right up there with
Tham Leng Teck."
