Grilled Birds got an unexpected pick-me-up today, after it was revealed that club captain Tian Yonghang had been called up to the national squad for their World Cup qualification campaign. While the 32 year-old was an unused substitute in Singapore's 2-0 opening win against Yemen, both goals scored by BlackLusterSoldier winger Mohd Zakaria bin Yaacob, Tian was reportedly overwhelmed simply to be on the bench.

"Honestly, I thought the ship had sailed." Tian said. "Then again, Mohd Safri made it to the senior side late too, so maybe it's just that the national coaches prize experience."
