Aza Away
Former Team Remy83 defender
Taufiqillah Aza moved from the Farmer Bunnies to Spanish Division Six contenders logrosporting for just over S$1.6 million today, and will wear the Number 15 on his new green-and-white striped kit.
Aza, whose ever-present black headband had been the subject of more than one creative chant from the stands, appeared to be headed for Italy after Bad Boys Napoli, also from the sixth division, upped the offer of Cádiz C.F. (1910). However, fate decreed that he would wind up in the land of Toro Bravo after all.
Taufiqillah had been the Man of the Match in both his appearances for the Bunnies this season, which head coach
Elias van Dal took as a sign that he had outgrown the club - which, the Dutchman hastened to add, was hardly a bad thing.
"We're not going - and have indeed have not planned to go - anywhere for awhile, and given that he's joining a respectable European league before turning twenty-one, it's a no-brainer, really." van Dal reasoned.
Aza looks to have been pencilled in as the replacement for leftback Antonio Navarro Iñiguez, who had just left for FC Liuets the day before, but whatever the case may be, he contends that he is raring to go. "It'll be a dream to work with the likes of Antonio Montejo." he said. "I can see myself developing well here."
