Dorogan Retires
It was not exactly a shock when 40 year-old former Grilled captain
Gleb Dorogan announced his retirement, having already exceeded the length of his first stay here, with what was supposed to be his twilight cameo. After seasons of sporadic appearances, and almost none at all in his last three here, the former Moldovan youth international professed to be more than happy at bowing out with his name on an S-League teamsheet.
"It was not totally what I had dreamt of, but I cannot complain too much." the gregarious midfielder, who recently worked his way into the club's century club, said. "Life has been quite good to me... particularly as I have got a new job lined up!"
Indeed, Dorogan will not even have to change up his daily routine that much, having been signed on as a part-time pundit on Grilled's in-house television show. "There was surprisingly high demand for it, after we worked out the right pricing model." club public relations head Raymond Li commented.
A far more venerable figure will not be following him out, but
Tim Hobson has kindly agreed to give up his Number Eleven jersey, which will make whoever claims it only the second one to ever wear it for the Birds. "It'll have to be someone really out of the world."
Tian Yonghang affirmed.
It's not that anybody quite knows what the Englishman is up to nowadays, though, after collecting his token weekly stipend. While there have been unconfirmed rumours of a naturalised grey-haired
angmo swearing in dialect with the best of them at random pubs around the country whenever Grilled let in a cheap goal, which is very often, none have looked too deeply into the matter.
