Grilled Birds and Farmer Bunnies will start their new seasons in a slimmer mode, after letting a number of their players go by mutual consent. For the Birds, the list includes 27 year-old utility men
Harry Hoy and
Winston Chan, as well as recent Chicken Wings alumni Suram Mazumdar and Daiki Osamura.
On the Bunnies' part, Muhd Yusuf Mahathir and Wee Yi Hao have declared their intention to leave, while forward Han Jia Kian has reportedly been granted a last-minute extension, with a view towards possibly getting a squad role.
Hoy and Chan have revealed that low wages were the main reason for their resignation, having been unable to secure a raise. While declining to reveal the specifics, the duo did mention that their monthly salaries were "
in the ballpark of S$2500".
"It looked good when we started out, but we've since been stuck for years at this level." Hoy explained. "It's not exactly peanuts, but this sum doesn't go far in Singapore either. We're not getting any younger, and I for one have to think of my future."
Hoy revealed that he was considering picking up a trade, and is looking into a welding certification, while Chan will now help out with his family retail business full-time.
