French Foo
Chicken Wings midfield general Foo Xin Chao was picked up by French Division Seven club Mugiwara Crew for S$546000 this evening, with the involved parties finally shaking hands on the agreement after Foo's advisors processed a last-minute offer from Romanian Division Six side Gazarii Petrolisti.
The slick-passing Foo had no shortage of takers, and for a long time, he appeared destined to be headed to either New York or Tuscany, to join up with Flemish Lions or Nazzaboy respectively. Before that, Lejre Allstars (Danish Division Six), Pitbulla (Bulgarian Division Six) and prominent Geylang club Joker 9 had faxed in bids.
Head scout Tham Beng Li admitted to being slightly dismayed that his protégé would not be handed a chance with the Birds, but accepted that Foo would not get much playing time, if any, if that happened. "Grilled are in the S-League, and competing on all fronts. These are not times where a seventeen year-old, no matter how talented, can cut it in this environment."
While local analysts have pencilled Foo down as only an outside chance to eventually make the national U-20 team due to his lack of a defining attribute, the lad himself professed himself just happy to work with new English teammate Ash Patella. "With Diamantino Salpico looking to leave, there will be opportunities, the agent said." Foo reasoned optimistically.
It is however the end of the line for Rancher Rabbits graduates Ong Jun Yew, Li Chang Siong and Kiran George, who have become resigned to a non-footballing career. "It's hyper-competitive out there." prospective winger George moaned. "There was simply no way to get a foot in, even on a part-time basis."
