Leong Returns Home
Grilled have recovered one of their fledglings, as forward
Leong Wan Kang concluded an extremely eventful month and a half by touching down back in Singapore for National Day. In between, the youngster had divided his time about evenly between BDSM FC and Italian Division Five club Atletico_Ospizio, and ended up on the scoresheet for both.
The 17 year-old's highlight of his career thus far must be his rubbing shoulders with idol Lee Siong Nie as part of the BDSM FC lineup in a Cup game against North Dolphins. Not that he was a passenger in that game, as he was the equal of Lee, in terms of goals at least, on his debut; two sweet strikes, one an assist from Lee, appeared to be the first chapter of a productive career with the local giants.
It would turn out to be his first and last outing with BDSM FC though, as he was out of the squad for the next couple of weeks, for reasons both Leong and the club have refused to divulge, and the teenager soon left by mutual agreement for Atletico_Ospizio. He too struck on his debut there, the third goal in a 4-0 victory over Barcelona visitors Scratters, and participated in two more friendlies before again being listed as available.
Mentor Tham Beng Li, who had stood aside when Leong was first available, could not restrain himself any longer, and updated
Niculae Stanca with the situation, and the Grilled head coach was happy enough to welcome Leong back into the fold. "We can see that he's learnt a lot from his experiences." Stanca commented. "The S$50000 fee can be considered as his tuition!"
