We Won It Six Times
Newly-released research sponsored by current S-League champions Isle of Flames has established a lineage for the Singapore Unofficial Championship, a title contested between the first local clubs to play a match against each other, and thereafter between the holder and any other local side it plays.
According to the records, Grilled Birds have been unofficial champions of Singapore six times, with the reigns as follows:
- Won from FC RaZer Infernus (Season 23), lost to Hattrick all the time (Season 24)
- Won from Team Singapore, lost to Hattrick all the time (Season 26)
- Won from Chinablack (Season 27), lost to Titus Titanium IV (Season 28)
- Won from heimu XI, lost to ChAmPzz (Season 28)
- Won from Team Singapore, lost to Arrogancae (Season 36)
- Won from Rollin' Thunder, lost to Reifels Juniors (Season 38)
This puts Grilled third behind only Herron and Hattrick all the time on the all-time list in terms of both total reigns and length of reigns, but the response to this tidbit from their supporters has been decidedly ambivalent.
"Yeah, that's nice, but like, where's the real silverware?" one fan asked on the club messageboard. "Heck, I would settle for some sponsored invitational tinpot akin to the Emirates Cup right now."
