Feather In Cap

Mohd Safri bin Mohd Kassim won his first U-20 cap, debuting as a 46th minute substitute for Wu Soon Lai in a home U-20 World Cup fixture against Pakistan. Sadly, it ended in a 0-5 defeat for the Young Lions, with Safri getting the barest of touches.

Still, the young Grilled star professed himself delighted with the opportunity. "Today, I finally got on the bench, but didn't think that I would be called upon as my last training session with the squad hadn't been very good. I have to thank the national coach for showing faith."

Although the Cubs have long been eliminated from Group 10, being a full 24 points behind second-placed Venezuela with only four rounds to go, next Friday's showdown against India will give them a shot at redemption, and will likely determine whether they end up with the wooden spoon.
