English Behr
Grilled Birds responded to the long-term injury of
Nawaz Talib by signing 30 year-old Englishman
Ronny Behr for S$3.6 million from Polish Division Six club K.S. Północ Częstochowa, where he had spent the last eight seasons, unfortunately without helping them progress. Before that, Behr emerged from the youth ranks of now-defunct Staffordshire side in the net, and developed in Norway and Belgium, with a short stint with 4 Dywizja Strzelcow Polskich before he reached Częstochowa.
Behr has a reputation as a true professional, ticking all the boxes as far as his new teammates are concerned. "He's clearly experienced and radiates authority, but doesn't seem too bossy; he's a very nice guy in all respects, but big like his name suggests. I already feel excited to be partnering him in defence." first-team centerback
Zoltán Árva gushed. Captain
Han Lik-Tsun, whose place is in doubt now that Behr is here, similarly positive. "He is a very good signing, and one whom I think can take Grilled to greater heights."
1.FC MUFUBA (Slovakian Division Four) and S.S.C. Matrix (Italian Division Six) were in contact with Częstochowa, but it was Danish Division Five side wipers dream who drove the price up by a few hundred thousand dollars. "Thankfully, we just got another two hundred thousand or so after Che Harun bin Sabtu got sold again." Grilled coach
Marcus Liehner grinned. "He's really doing his level best to help out his old club."
Grilled were also looking at Portuguese defender Júlio César Malheiro from FOREVER JESUS, but settled on Behr after a short talk with both players. Malheiro instead moved to Hungarian Division Four side Kutyaütők FC for S$3.7 million.
