Yeo Refresher
Farmer Bunnies made their biggest sale of an academy player in some years, as all-rounder Yeo Min Kok went to Danish VI.229 side kongerne af jylland for just short of S$900000. This was over heated bidding by German V.207 club SC Capelle 71 as well as rebuilding five-time Israeli Ligat Ha´al champions Kfir's Puppies, who were active in negotiations until the bitter end.
This was a personal triumph of sorts for Yeo, who had just celebrated his seventeenth birthday three days ago. "Excuse me, this feels like a dream."
Rancher Rabbits scout Tong Han Kong was never in doubt about Yeo's talent, for one. "We all knew he was special - and all the more so since we still don't know what his best position is. Min Kok is one of those rare birds who look good more or less everywhere on the pitch, except as striker in his case. With his height, he will dominate in the air as well!"
Indeed, the six-foot-two-in-boots Yeo had stood literally a head over most of his teammates and opponents, something that is seldom seen in Singapore. His ample collection of qualities attracted a host of interested parties, including Paradis Club de Louyat (French Division Seven), Never_Walk_Alone (Romanian Division Four), Wirujące Ananasy (Polish Division Six), Nevis Peak Eagles FC (Saint Kitts and Nevis Division Four) and FC Guzzies (Belgian Division Five), causing the Bunnies conference room to be packed for once.
Yeo admitted to have been excited at the prospect at going to the Puppies, what with their rich history, but pledged his loyalty to kongerne af jylland after the deal was sealed. Their Brazilian gaffer Régis Vianna seemed to have stopped his youth recruitment since bringing young Norwegian winger Rasmus Gulbrandsen in about a month ago, but Yeo's talent and fit would be irresistable.
On the Grilled Birds end,
Dan Alstani received word that former team captain Ha Qicai had been made available by OKS Stomil Olsztyn 1975, but he declined to make a bid. "Ha is a great defender, but he doesn't really figure in our long-term planning, which was why we let him leave in the first place. Anyway, he says he's pretty happy at the offer from Shandong Dongying Delta FC - playing Division Two in China proper has its attractions."
Alstani would not address news reports that he had been looking at the defensive options of 32 year-old Brazilian stopper Emengardo Flores Lopez of Germany's roter stern stade, as well as 29 year-old local Raghuvaran Mudunuri, who wanted away from Polish Division Five club WDA Swiecie. Both would move on for relatively modest fees of below about S$2.5 million, as it was.
