With Grilled Birds being stuck in something of a mire, it would come down to the Chicken Wings academy to give the fans some cheer, as they rose to head the six-team Les Gibus league with a 4-0 whitewash of Loretini. The Italian visitors attempted to attack in a 3-4-3 at The Green Gridiron, but the Wings had their counter drills down pat, with Lee Chu Han and Josh Hwang putting them two up within ten minutes.
It got even better as Rancher Rabbits overhauled Sockenholm Academy in the Jr-Liga with 17 of 22 scheduled rounds played, thanks to their own 4-0 against Brazil's Leão do Rio Sport Clube, who were admittedly hit by the folding of their parent club. Winger Siddhesh Roy excelled with a brace not yet a week after turning sixteen, and although his pal Santosh Varma drew concern after going off with a suspected concussion in the 34th minute, it was not as if Leão were about to ask questions of Idris Azib either.
With Sockenholm dropping points in a 1-1 draw with third-placed Olympico Vanda Jr, the Rabbits are now in the driving seat, and assistant coach Fauzi Zahirul Haq encouraged them to go for it. "It's good to get the winning mentality and habit baked in early!"
As for the Busy Bees, they are on track to finish a respectable fourth of sixteen sides in the U19 league, being six points behind Young Fellows FC Brain in third after 29 games, and sixteen ahead of Busto FC NextGen in fifth. Their latest fixture ended 6-1 against Polish participants Bogate Wilki, but this was nothing on Belgian leaders Baby BL Peruwelz, who got an incredible 28th win versus Ultramontano.
