Off To Gibraltar
NUFC - East Side Gibraltar Team, the second spin-off of Swiss club BSC Newcastle United, recruited one trainee each from Farmer Bunnies and Grilled International today: Yang Siong Tze and Khaw Jie How respectively. The seventeen year-old defenders joined Naveen Karthikeyan of Sri Lankan Division Two team Neo All Stars in John Garcia's slowly-expanding squad, after his acquisitions of Kuwaiti Naeim Aghasi and Yemeni Basheer Al-Guteibi last December.
"Garcia looks like he has a plan." International assistant coach Abdillah bin Mohd said. "He has been keeping it straightforward with the targeted buying, and I think Khaw will do them proud eventually."
Yang likewise came with a good recommendation from his scout, Tong Han Kong. "Siong Tze has the basics down pat, and he has been one of the favourites of our youth coaches. Being willing to follow instructions is understated nowadays."
It was a less happy day for a bunch of other academy graduates, unfortunately, after another tranche of contract extensions ran out. The affected would be: Nobuyuki Hosoya, Ng Jing Sze, Kwan Kiong Wen, Ng Chin Tian, Lee Ying Da and Yu Kian Keong from Grilled Birds; Gan Su Kwang, Tay Jia Da and Mike Mu from Farmer Bunnies; and Sumanto Juliandri and Wahit bin Redhuan from Grilled International.
