"Die Verriegelung", or "The Lock" from Northeastern Germany, Fabian Bona represented a final shift in Grilled's defensive culture, ejecting Lan Tuan-Mu, the last local first-team defender, from his post in central defence. This act shaved three years off the back three's average age at one go, but Bona has had little practice holding up a team. He'll have to learn fast.
The ever-reliable Bona would become Grilled's longest-serving defender by far, as he chalked up well over two hundred appearances in his twelve seasons at the back, a figure surpassed only by Shen Kek-Tjiang at the time of his departure. Even that wasn't enough for Bona, though, as he elected to continue his playing days in England.
