All On The G-Train
The second day of the Trophy of Legends would be much better than the first, with Grilled Birds making it three wins from three. Swiss VI.23 side Lokomotive Basel 04 were their initial victims, as
Ibnou Balde spearheaded a charge late in the first half that had the Birds 3-0 up at the break. It got to 5-1 by the end, with English midfielder Maurice Harris pulling one back for the Swiss at last call.
It was then a 7-0 against another Division Six opponent in the Netherlands' White Gladiators next, as
Phua Ming Xin got his hat-trick in a completely one-sided display, this despite the Gladiators' much-ballyhooed front three. Dutch fifth division club Goalkeeper then did somewhat better, taking the lead through André van Dessel's cheeky lob, but they would eventually fall 3-5 too.
The Buns split their matches in the Heroes of 2014 Trophy, first sharing the spoils with Bosnian IV.24 champs VuleIsBack.
Vitaliy Efendiev opened in the 39th minute as
Gilberto Sorondo sensationally saved a penalty from Domenico Vanti, but Polish winger Bartosz Gorgolewski tied it up in the 69th. Czech Division Five side Bzi forever then fell 0-2 to goals from
Ho Ah Kian and
Lau Keng Kwang, before Bulgarian IV.19 representatives zhione overturned
Arun Ponnusamy's 18th minute counter, to prevail 2-1 through first-half goals by Didier Rood and Vitaliy Filyushin.
Grilled International had it tough in the 2017 version, with Belgian V.153 outfit Yorkskes first smashing three past them without reply, with Enrico Santoiemma's eye for goals backed up by some great goalkeeping from Hong Kong's Lau Xiaoning. Dutch H.I. IV.15 side #o27' then hauled International back to a 2-2 draw after
Safari bin Hj Jali had done all the hard work in getting his side ahead, before Belgian sixth divisioners KFC Kwakkel showed just why they had won seven in a row, in a 3-1 win marred only by
Zaini bin Hj Kaling's late contribution.
